Sahreyye سهريّة

Tickets

Welcome back to Sahreyye, a night of community building, mutual aid, joy, and cultural exchange. The team at Nahda Project is so thrilled to be opening its doors again on October 4th, 2026, at 6PM at The Loov, with performances starting at 6:30PM. Sign up to perform at the door.

Sahreyye, سهريّة, in Arabic means a night of entertainment, sharing of arts, and community building. Originally a play by the iconic late Lebanese artist Ziad Rahbani, son of Fairuz— Sahreyye became a symbol of shared cultural exchange through popular performances. In Sahreyye, a key tenet of our community open mic is to center the voices of our people from the SWANA and the Global South— with a deep recognition that art is a form of cultural resistance necessary to liberation movements.

In the last sold out Sahreyye, the open mic talents left us all speechless: The talent our community nurtures is extraordinary— from performers aged 4 years old to 77! Performances are strictly limited to 5 minutes and can be of any genre! Everyone has a story to share! What is yours?

✨Join us for a night of community engagement with featured local artists and an open stage so that everyone can share their talent! In collaboration with greater Boston organizing Palestine groups, we heartily invite you to join us on Sunday the 4th!

Details for the night:

🍉 We are so thrilled to be featuring three talented performers: El Arkitekt, Layan Hawila, and Hala Abu Nassar! You do not want to miss them!

🍉 Profits from the night will go to supporting Dr. Khitam Edelbi who trains social workers and psychologists in expressive arts therapy across Palestine who are then able to offer therapeutic services in local centers, schools, and various community organizations. See below for Khitam’s more detailed bio of impressive contributions to healing in Palestine. Tickets are at a sliding scale to increase accessibility for all community members. There will be no person turned away due to funds. Please reach out to us! nahdaprojectinfo@gmail.com

🍉 Snacks and beverages will be provided in the venue.

🍉 This is a family-friendly event, and we love seeing our younger generations up on stage! Please don’t hesitate to bring baba, mama, teta, sido, khalto, khalo, uncles, aunties, nieces and nephews and many more!

The Loov, 72 Joy Street, Somerville MA is accessible via Union Square T stop, East Somerville T Stop, Bluebikes, and free parking on site. Unfortunately, there are a couple of stairs up to the venue, so let us know prior if you need accommodation.

We are looking forward to welcoming, hosting, and hearing the talent you will be sharing!

Warmly,

Nahda Project Team

Over the past two years, Dr. Khitam Edelbi has focused her work in the field of art therapy on training social workers and psychologists who provide psychological support in therapeutic centers, schools, and various community organizations. The program aims to convey the concept of art therapy as a supportive, and complementary tool for psychotherapy, rather than a substitute for it. Dr. Khitam is a graduate of Lesley University in Boston and has been active in the field since 2009, the year she graduated, and returned to Palestine. She began her work by launching a mobile art car, and the project evolved into a mobile arts bus that visited kindergartens across most of Palestine, offering a variety of activities such as drawing, theater, music, storytelling, and active play. In addition to her current project in training specialists in psychosocial support, she teaches students in the Master’s program for Art Therapy at Dar Al-Kalima University—a new program launched just three years ago.
